Remodeling Cost vs Value for 2013
Before you spend thousands of dollars on a home renovation that you hope will add value to your house (and not just enjoyment), take a look at Remodeling Magazine’s annual list of remodeling cost vs. value for the mid-atlantic region first! This list provides a national survey highlighting which improvements are the most valuable and will produce the highest return on investment.
The survey is broken down region-by-region and then parsed into large metropolitan areas; the closest to us in terms of size, location, and economy being Richmond.
It seems that the items with the highest return on investment in our region currently are;
- Finishing out an attic bedroom (or adding finished square footage ABOVE GRADE in general)
- Replacing Garage Door Or Front Door (Curb Appeal)
- Basement finishing or remodel
- Deck Addition
- Kitchen Remodel
- Window Replacement
- Bathroom Remodel
- Roof Replacement
Take a look, you may be surprised at what you find! And please, please check it out and call me before you do any sort of remodeling that you won’t get intrinsic enjoyment from, or that you do purely for a sale! We need to make sure it will be worthwhile!
