Interior Design Trends
A significant trend in design lately has been wallpaper. Before you gasp and remember the floral wallpaper your grandmother had in the ’70s, there are some exciting new products being offered today. Some examples of the stylish new papers we are seeing come in for 2019 veneered laser thin wood, faux tortoise, digitally printed murals, colored and patterned grass cloths, metallic cork, it’s endless.
Wallpapers are being used for different applications. Think outside the box, a room has not four but five walls. Kenny Ball Design has been wallpapering ceilings, whether it’s to add more drama to a blah dining room or using an all over pattern in a powder room, it’s a fun way to add another layer to a room. Vinyl papers have come a long way in terms of look and feel. Instead of tile in a kitchen or wet bar, we have used them as a more budget-friendly alternative to a traditional tiled backsplash. We did a faux wood vinyl paper with raised texture in a mudroom which was a great substitute for the real thing- and it’s washable.
