Colleen & Matt Chulis
We were living in a town home in Charlottesville in Cherry Hill “in town”, but really wanted to find a place for our growing family. We had 2 kids at the time, and were planning on a 3rd. We did a lot of research and then met with a few realtors, and we connected the best with Sasha. She was to the point, listened to what we wanted and what was important to us, and had a game plan. I trusted her and I liked her balance between take charge and being adaptable and open. We knew we wanted a flat yard for lots of soccer games, a garage, 5 bedrooms, and to be relatively close to downtown (ideally within 10 minutes). We also did not want a fixer upper, so wanted something that was mostly move in ready.
Matt is the Associate Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer team at UVA. He went to school here and his dream was to always come back and coach and raise a family. We were very fortunate that everything worked out the way he had hoped. I moved here from NYC – it was a bit of an adjustment at first but now I can’t really imagine myself anywhere else. We love the combination of the small town feel along with the great restaurants, sports attractions, and shows.
We ended up finding a great 2 acre lot out past Foxfield. We loved how open the interior was, and how it was only about 7 years old. There was a long driveway and a great big, flat yard, which is hard to find.
They kept things moving quickly…just the way I like!
“We never felt pressured by Sasha and that made us comfortable. We saw a lot of homes and visited a lot of areas until we found one that felt right, and then we went for it. For selling the home, we got very lucky. After no hits for 6 months, we took it off the market. Sasha found someone however that was in town just for a few days to look at places and called us up as she had a feeling. Within a few days we had an offer and we were in business.
Probably thinking about how much money everything can cost – from the cost of moving, to purchasing a bigger home, to new furniture where needed. Also, it was a bit nerve wracking waiting to ensure that everything went through perfectly – you don’t want to get your hopes up too high until things are signed and completely 100% finalized.
It felt like an exciting adventure to us – It was fun looking at new houses and staying up late doing research. I also felt like I learned a lot through the process from Sasha. She explained things step by step and had templates for most things. So with each step of the process, we knew what expectations were, how long things would take, and that made me feel at ease. Things are structured and organized and there’s not much guessing, which helps take some of the stress and anxiety out of the process.
