Where were you living prior to Charlottesville, and how did you begin your house hunting process?
Josh and I are both originally from Northern Virginia and then I attended the University of Virginia, but after college we decided returning to the busy city wasn’t for us. Charlottesville seemed to be the perfect balance with university athletics and nightlife along with rural sights activities.
How did you discover the neighborhood (where you eventually ended up buying), and what do you love about it?
After living on the south side of town in Mill Creek, we were happy with the overall location, but hoping to find something a little bigger. Mosby Mountain seemed to be an ideal place to look with .5 acre lots, many of which back up to common space and woods.
What was your experience like working with the Sasha Farmer Team?
After interviewing 3 other realtors before selling our home, I was confident we made the right choice with Sasha. She had a comprehensive, internet based plan for marketing our house which seemed to me the way so many people look for homes these days. We had a short deadline to get the house on the market and she hustled to get everything ready in the time we had. Anytime I had questions or concerns she was quick to respond and helped make the whole experience less stressful for us.
Our Mill Creek home was an ideal place for a future hospital resident and we hoped to get it on the market in time for Match Day in March. Our house was quickly cleaned and ready for pictures and open houses. Our plan seemed to work like a charm because 21 days later we had a contract with two future UVA hospital doctors! On the buying end, we were suddenly faced with the problem of not finding the right house for us in time to move. Sasha took us to so many homes and patiently dealt with questions and anxieties. Without her, we never would have been able to negotiate to get the house we wanted and move in only 30 days.
What was the most stressful part of the real estate process?
I think the most stressful moments are when you wait for an answer on a contract offer. There is so much second guessing your decisions and hoping things work out. I appreciated the confidence Sasha instilled in us. She didn’t try to convince us to change our minds or push us to adjust our expectations. She really was there more as a coach to help guide our decisions.
What was the best part of your real estate process?
The best part of our real estate experience was having a realtor to lean on when problems or questions came up. Knowing someone will answer your e-mail or phone call quickly really makes it feel like we were working as a team. It can be so hard as the homeowner, knowing what a big moment this is for you in your life and you want to feel like the realtor you work with understands that. Sasha made us feel like she cared about getting us into the home we wanted and wasn’t willing to compromise our needs just to get something sold.
