Do You Like Puzzles? Try a Real Estate Transaction!
I’ve never been good at puzzles, probably because I have the attention span of a goldfish. Sitting and carefully sifting through a variety of pieces that begin to blur together and look the same after a while is more of a challenge than I’m up for. However, I have some friends, who during the holiday season, always tackle a huge puzzle. It is an annual family tradition. It takes patience, resolve, and ultimately flexes the problem-solving muscles in your brain.
Entering into a real estate transaction can often feel like a giant puzzle where the pieces are anything but confusing. Here are a few helpful steps to aid you in putting together a SMOOTH experience!
- Hire a great REALTOR!
Sellers and purchasers have more information than ever at their fingertips. Online websites provide helpful information on comparable properties, market data, and access to thousands of properties in a market area. Realtors are no longer just gatekeepers who find a property for a client but should be highly trained consultants. An excellent Realtor is proactive in providing great market knowledge coupled with effective negotiation and communication skills. The transaction should be an experience marked by consistent and timely updates in addition to being a FUN experience.
- Assemble a great team of vendors!
The real estate transaction involves multiple parties and it is necessary to assemble a great team of folks to help you through the experience. Title companies, attorneys, home inspectors, lenders, insurance representatives, contractors, and the list goes on! Your Realtor should be equipped to refer excellent partners your way.
- Enjoy the process!
Like a good puzzle, it takes time, patience, and decisions along the way! A good transaction should allow you as the buyer or seller to make the key decisions along the way with great support from your Realtor and vendor partners. After all, you want someone to do the heavy lifting for you so that you can worry about starting the next chapter of your story
